How far in advance should I book a travel clinic appointment?

Ideally book 6–8 weeks before you travel, as some vaccines require multiple doses or time to become fully effective. If you are travelling sooner, we can still help with last-minute travel vaccinations and malaria or altitude sickness prevention where appropriate.

Can I get travel vaccines at short notice?

Yes. Many travel vaccines can still be given close to departure. If you are travelling soon, book the earliest available appointment so we can assess your itinerary and prioritise the most important protection for your trip.

Do I need malaria tablets for my destination?

It depends on where you are travelling, your itinerary and activities, and any medical factors. We assess malaria risk using your destination details and advise whether anti-malarial tablets are recommended, alongside bite avoidance measures.

Are travel vaccines available privately in Edinburgh?

Yes. We provide private travel vaccinations in Edinburgh, including an itinerary-based risk assessment and advice on recommended vaccines and prevention measures tailored to your trip.

Can I get altitude sickness tablets in the UK?

Yes. Altitude sickness prevention treatment can be supplied following a clinical assessment. We’ll discuss your altitude itinerary, risk factors and suitability, and advise on prevention strategies including gradual ascent and medication where appropriate.
