Frequently Asked Questions
-
Pharmacy Clinic Edinburgh is an all-private pharmacy.
This means we do not have an NHS contract, so all the services we offer are private (not affiliated with the NHS in any way). This means services are paid for by the patient/customer.
-
We can still fulfil prescriptions provided that they are private prescriptions (typically written on paper with a header from a private clinic). We cannot dispense NHS prescriptions (GP10s)
-
To get a complete overview of our services, see the header of the page. We offer everything from vaccinations, weight-loss services and travel health clinics to laser hair removal, facials and specialist skincare.
-
We are a small team of dedicated pharmacy professionals who aim to offer whatever you need to improve your health.
Our services are aligned with our patients: we are typically able to provide help for most people at their convenience, with pricing lower than most private GPs or other clinics.
If you’re suffering from an acute illness or urgently need an emergency prescription, we are usually able to see you straight away, whereas with other healthcare providers you might wait days or even weeks for an appointment.
Our independent prescribing pharmacist, Vicky, is also trained in a number of aesthetics services including anti-wrinkle injections. With such talented staff, you’re always in good hands.
-
Unfortunately due to specific laws and regulations in the UK, prescriptions from abroad can only be legally dispensed if all of the following criteria apply:
the prescription is the physical copy or are an eprescription which is on a service which is UK compatible
the prescription is hand-signed, in indelible ink, by the prescriber
if the pharmacist can read and understand the language the prescription is written in
the prescription contains the name, date of birth and address of the patient
the prescription contains the name, registration, address and contact details of the prescriber
the prescription originates from the European Union or the European Economic area
the prescription contains the name, strength, formulation and quantity of medicine to be supplied
the prescription contains the directions for each medicine supplied
If your prescription does not meet the above criteria, it is unlikely to be accepted. In this case we would recommend you obtain a new prescription which does meet the above criteria (we can help with this)

Certain services now operate by subscription.
This means you complete a pre-screening, sign up and pay a regular fee on a set schedule. At the start of this schedule (e.g. every 5 weeks) you’ll be invited to book your appointment by email. This has meant it is easier for patients to stay on top of their medicines and schedule.
It is possible to pause or cancel your subscription yourself, but if you’re having any problems please just get in touch either by emailing support@pharmacyclinicedinburgh.co.uk or calling 0131 629 1800

Our services are in increasing demand, and we highly value our clinicians’ time. That’s why we have introduced either partial or complete pre-payments for certain services.
